Consequently everyone is suspicious of everyone else the whole time and this leads to.ħ. Anecdotal evidence is that the same MW2 hacks work on MW3. Anyone who was actually good was rounded on as a hacker and even those who didn't complain regularly felt very suspicious. Because of the pings and because of the hacks, the accusations for hacking were constant. Has there ever been a more hacked and ruined multiplayer game? Many people said they stopped playing the PC version because of all the hacks. You also heard accusations of "auto knife" and other things. There were heaps of hacks available and hackers were shameless about it - people shooting through walls, having enemies highlighted all over the map, ridiculous aimbots were some I personally saw. Every now and then, you came across a blatant hacker in MW2. It should be noted that all of these screenies were taken in just a few hours of playing. It's not like this is an expected foible of a new launch, this happened all the time in MW2. If you hold Tab down and view the scores and pings of people, you'll almost certainly watch as some peoples' pings fluctuate all over the place.

Watching the opposing killcam shows that you were firing a full metre past your subject from their PoV.Ĥ. Be prepared to unload a full magazine in someone's face only for them to shoot you once in return and you're dead. Ever.Īnother brilliantly balanced matchmaking fail.ģ. I put in over 150 hours of game time to Modern Warfare 2 and I never heard a positive word about the matchmaking system. I'm extremely excited about the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 this year, because we've been taking your feedback since Modern Warfare 2,and the franchise as a whole, on what you wanted to see in the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 and the team at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games has put aton of emphasis on delivering a PC experience that brings in all the great things we added in Modern Warfare 2: I simply don't believe the following quote from the developer's blog:

It's not like the developers didn't know. This virtually never worked properly for MW2 and lo and behold, it still doesn't work for MW3 now. The system is supposed to find a host and then connect people who all have equal performance computers and pings. Pings are shown using green signal bars to the right of the player's name. Aside from a Halo-style vote-for-one-of-two-options addition to the game, you get what you're given. Some maps as MW2 showed us, turn up once every 100 or so cycles. You don't get to play on the map you want to play on. Here's why MW3's match making system sucks so very very hard.ġ. But the unanimous feeling across the board is, disappointment based upon why didn't they have proper dedicated servers this time round? (There is also disappointment that the gun camos are rather poor - but that complaint seems to be in a distant second place.) It will launch with a thrill and whizz round bends but the longer you drive it you'll be going, "Come on! Stop fannying around!" (or words to that effect.) It's like being given a Ferrari that's limited to 50mph. But to repeat not having proper multiplayer again is so disappointing and infuriating at the same time. It's so addictive and so potentially great. I so want to hate it for this, but I just can't stop playing it. Console players won't have nearly the same issues due to matchmaking systems that have always worked in this way. In terms of making a PC update, it's lazier still: it's a straight console port. Update? It's MW2 copied with tracing paper (this isn't necessarily a bad thing).

It made the laziest update to a game ever. Whereas BF3 gave the PC a breath of fresh air, Activision has essentially listened to its loyal customers, raised a middle finger and told them to, '**** off!'Īll MW3 had to do was to be a re-launch of MW2 with proper dedicated servers and it would be one of the greatest games of all time. It's difficult to express how contemptible that decision is - after all the rage from MW2. I am of course talking about the PC version here. right up until the horrendous matchmaking system started up. But then I booted up MW3 and it was like being back in the great-but-flawed old MW2 days again. But then the brilliance of Battlefield 3 tempered those feelings. If you were anything like me then you were counting the minutes until Modern Warfare 3 appeared.
